چکیده

EMPIRE is a massively parallel semiempirical (NDDO) molecular-orbital program designed to scale well both on single multi-core nodes (using open MP) and on large clusters (using a hybrid open MP/MPI model). The program design and performance are discussed for single self-consistent-field calculations on up to 76,800 atoms and on both singleand multi-node machines using either Windows 7 or Linux. EMPIRE currently carries out the full SCF calculation with no local approximations or other linear-scaling techniques. The single-node version is available free of charge to bona fide academic groups.

EMPIRE: a highly parallel semiempirical molecular orbital program: 2: periodic boundary conditions

The increasing role of quantum chemical calculations in drug and materials design has led to a demand for methods that can describe the electronic structures of large and complex systems. Semiempirical methods based on the neglect of diatomic differential overlap (NDDO) approximation (e.g., the MNDO [1, 2], MNDO/d [3], AM1 [4], AM1* [5], and PMx [6–8] methods) are important representatives of s...

KINETIC STUDIES USING SEMI-EMPIRICAL SELF- CONSISTENT FIELD (SCF) MOLECULAR ORBITAL (MO) METHOD: PARTI. A MODIFIED NEGLECT OF DIATOMIC OVERLAP (MNDO) STUDY OF THE PYROLYSIS OF ETHYL VINYL ETHER

Using a computer code called MOPAC, an acronym for a general Molecular Orbital Package (Quantum Chemistry Programme Exchange (QCPE) Programme No. 455), the geometries and heats of formation of the reactant, the products and the trdnsition state were computed by the MNDO semi- empiricalself consistent field (SCF) method for the pyrolysis of ethyl vinyl ether. ((Force))calculation on the reac...

Self-consistent field convergence for proteins: a comparison of full and localized-molecular-orbital schemes.

Proteins in the gas phase present an extreme (and unrealistic) challenge for self-consistent-field iteration schemes because their ionized groups are very strong electron donors or acceptors, depending on their formal charge. This means that gas-phase proteins have a very small band gap but that their frontier orbitals are localized compared to "normal" conjugated semiconductors. The frontier o...

Parallel, linear-scaling building-block and embedding method based on localized orbitals and orbital-specific basis sets.

We present a linear scaling method for the energy minimization step of semiempirical and first-principles Hartree-Fock and Kohn-Sham calculations. It is based on the self-consistent calculation of the optimum localized orbitals of any localization method of choice and on the use of orbital-specific basis sets. The full set of localized orbitals of a large molecule is seen as an orbital mosaic w...

Semiempirical investigations on the stabilization energies and ionic hydrogen - bonded structures of F − ( H 2 O ) n and Cl − ( H 2 O ) n ( n = 1 – 4 ) clusters

Several semiempirical methods were utilized to analyze the structures and stabilities of X(H2O)n (X = F, Cl; n = 1–4) clusters with respect to the number of water molecules through their comparison with ab initio molecular orbital calculations. Our results show that the recently developed PM6-DH+ semiempirical method can provide reasonable binding energies of hydrated fluoride and chloride ion ...
